WORK Advertising, Campaigns, Environmental, Identity

Verizon Center was built by Abe Pollin in 1997, at a time when the city of Washington was in financial crisis and building a multi million-dollar sports and entertainment arena in a struggling neighborhood seemed like a huge risk. Now regarded as a driving catalyst in the community, the arena has breathed new life into the Chinatown area. In addition to fostering commercial development, the Verizon Center has recognized the importance of giving back to the community and makes charitable giving one of their organization’s core values.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary and the successful revitalization of the neighborhood, Levine & Associates refreshed the interior of the arena with new environmental graphics and wayfinding signage. The following season, we launched a new identity and community service campaign for Wizards Care, the umbrella organization for all Washington Wizards/Verizon Center charities. The campaign, which featured members of the team promoting their favorite charities, helped to raise the profile of the center’s philanthropic ventures, celebrated community spirit and inspired other D.C. businesses and residents to get involved. The Verizon Center's continued charitable and economic support has made Chinatown a world-class destination, attracting businesses, residents and visitors.
